The team at Spike believes two things are true: e-mail is incredible, and we can make it even better. That’s been our goal since our founding. We take “plain ol’ email” and build a chat and productivity layer on top so it’s a single place to do 100% of your work.

Whether it’s sending large files, managing a calendar, chatting with colleagues, hosting a team video meeting, or collaborating on a document – it’s can all be done inside Spike. There’s no other app needed to do your work. Think of Spike as the Operating System for your work.

We’ve launched several new features that we believe make Spike an even better place to collaborate with your team, crush your to-do list, and manage your digital life.

Quote Replies

We believe that asynchronous work is crucial to the success of remote work, but it can create challenges as you can become overwhelmed when catching up with group chats and team conversations. To help solve that problem, we’ve added Quote Reply on both the desktop and mobile versions of Spike.

Reply directly to a specific message in any chat or group. Now responses can be placed in context with specific messages in a thread, eliminating the back and forth. It’s a simple way to streamline your communications.

On mobile: swipe ⬅️  left on a message to reply.

Pop-out Compose Window

One of our most requested features on our desktop app is an external compose window, and it’s now available! You can now pop out and compose messages in an external window on the desktop and web. This feature lets you manage your workload by viewing and replying to numerous messages side-by-side.

Multi-tasking, like it or not, is a part of everyone’s workday. If you’re crafting a long email, but quickly need to respond to a request for a file in another chat – you’ll have the option to do that without losing your cursor. Furthermore, if you need to grab content from one message to insert into another, you can do it even faster and with less friction now.

In-conversation Search on Mobile

Spike’s search makes finding anything you need a piece of cake! Search any thread, conversation, or group chat for a specific word or phrase and be directed straight there. This feature makes it extremely fast and easy to find specific messages or attachments. We’re happy to announce that it’s now also available on the mobile versions of Spike.

Other Enhancements

We’ve also improved how drafts function in Spike. Empty messages are no longer saved as a draft. Plus, drafts can be deleted in just one click (just right click and delete).

Show_Quoted_00000-1

Message history in replies is hidden by default to keep the conversation clean. We’ve made this change to help conversations flow smoothly. When there is more clutter on the screen, it’s easier to lose focus. To add the message history, simply select “Show Quoted.”

Finally, you can get to the bottom of your conversation with just one click. This feature lets you get to the most recent message if you scrolled back to find an attachment or a previous comment.

Update Your App to Upgrade Your Inbox

These features have been out for a few weeks, and we’ve heard great feedback from customers. These features are all available on the latest version of the Spike app, so make sure you either head to the App Store to upgrade or use the in-app upgrade option for non-App Store versions.

We aren’t stopping there, though. Our team is hard at work at the next round of upgrades to continue making Spike the best place to get work done.
